Understanding the Probate Court

The department does more than the probate of wills. One of the more fun things they do is adoptions both child and adult. The role of the attorney in probate proceedings is discussed as well as the role of attorneys in keeping estates out of probate entirely. Probate Judges also handle guardianships and conservatorships that are discussed in this episode. Another major function of the Probate Court in Alabama is mental health issues that require court intervention that can include psychiatric hospital placement or outpatient treatment.
